These past few weeks have been the hardest I have faced through out the whole year. Game production is really far behind and a few things may need to be changed in order for my game to be completed in time. What has been done in this past week regarding my game is asset creation and manipulation. I am finally starting to move into animating my characters for the running and fighting cycles with the aid of a new program I discovered. Other than drawing and manipulating images I really did not get anything done. I was out for most of the week trying to fix a more important problem.
For next week I will

I am ashamed to say that most of this week was spent going in circles. I spent quite a bit of time working on assets I already have trying to make them for a night scene and not actually making any new assets. Unfortunately, the assets didn't really work out the way I wanted so I scrapped them and started trying to add colliders to them. Unfortunately again, the colliders didn't really want to work correctly either, so I had to remove them as well. After that, I tried making the sprites of my assets into editable objects, however, yet again, I was not able to make that work, so really I didn't get much good work done at all this week besides learning that I cannot do any of those things.
For Next week I will...
This week in Game Design I have really been cracking down on my game. I have been working really hard on making assets that include background, items, intractable, and aesthetic things. I have discovered that, through much struggle and experimenting, that my drawing program does not make it easy to draw things that tile... However, I am using it because, even though it is not a vector based program, scaling and moving the image does not effect the quality of the overall image that much. I am very grateful for this because I am doing a lot of moving and scaling items so that they may tile properly.
As I have been working with assets, I have also been adding them to my game and trying to figure out how to make them work properly for the game. Something I want to do but may not actually do is making the images follow the camera to make them feel more rounded. I may not end up doing this because the flat look of the pictures somewhat looks better in my opinion and works with the style of the overall game. For next week I plan to
Since this week was shortened to two days due to the snow, I barely got any world one on my game and I spent most of the week lounging on the couch. On the plus side, in my extreme lazyness I was able to do an astounding amount of artwork which I will be adding to my portfolio. A lot of the work I did was doodles and drawing studies, but in that process I learned a lot about the drawing program I was using and gained some self confidence in my artistic ability. I also decided that I may add a new section to my portfolio dedicated to comic works. I am in the process of making a comic with two of my favorite characters that is both an artistic exercise aswell as a sort of vent piece dealing with a personal issue that is taken in a new context to help me heal. When r is complete I will add it to "Comics" under "My Work"
Today I presented my project to my teacher and we reviewed my progress on my game. As it is not as much as I wanted it to be, I am somewhat satisfied with the progress in my game and now only have asset creation and sound to put into my game. Most all of the coding is in, however there is a game-breaking problem that involves the enemy script. The player is unable to progress because they must first defeat the enemies. Since they cannot do that, the game is unplayable. Beside that the game is pretty much there.
Next week I will...
Yet another short week of accomplishing just about nothing. Monday we had off and Tuesday and Wednesday were short days so really I only had an hour in this class this week, so I really didn't do anything. next week hopefully I can actually do something and my game can begin functioning. I am still sick and have no energy to work either..
next week I will..
Literally this week was spent at home because I have Pneumonia. No joke, I was in quarantine for two days and only just came back today. Nothing was done this week. This post is entirely pointless but I still need to make a weekly post so I will just keep talking. The pneumonia is mostly in my left lung and the medicine has this cool side effect of making my skin boil in the sun, cool! I got an x-ray and they said, "yep, that's pneumonia, you have to stay out of school until Thursday, don't forget to take this medicine or you will die!" So yea, It's Pneumonia.
Next week I will...
I was accepted to my first collage! It also just so happened to be my first choice school! Now that that is out of the way, I feel like I have a huge weight off my shoulders and hopefully now I can put all of my focus on my work and get this game moving again. I'm gonna be honest, I have not done very much quality work for my game as I should have been but that should change now. I know that I don't have a lot of time left and my game is very ambitious for what time and resources I do have so it will be a challenge to finish it on time but I am optimistic.
For next week I shall...
Today I was accepted to my first university, University of North Carolina Asheville, and it also happened to be my first choice school. I am ecstatic about this development as this school will allow me to further pursue my concentration in game design and digital arts with a special program that takes classes from different state schools and organizes a program suited for me and my area of interest. I am really happy to have been accepted because this school because as it does have a very strong art program, it is not just an art school. UNCA has has a huge engineering program and marketing program. What I find most interesting is that the school encourages the different programs and areas of study to interact and sometimes even requires classes not in your intended major to be taken so that you can understand how to work with that area if the occasion requires it in the future.
The school Itself is wonderful but it also just so happens that it is also located in Asheville, one of the coolest towns in the Appalachian mountains. The opportunities are endless for the area. The local economy is seeing a steady upward trend and the community is very pro-arts. Not to mention, the town is in the Appalachian mountains. I would love to learn more about that gaming side of the community, as I know from experience that the town is full of nerds, and see how I can perhaps be influenced by that. I would not be surprised if I had many volunteers or partners around to help me if I were to continue making games outside of the school curriculum. I am really happy to have been accepted and look forward to all the opportunities I will have in those years that I spend there. I may even continue to blog in collage if I find time to do so because this is a very good way to keep track of my progress. Thank you all for sticking it out with me, we are almost there! This week was mostly problems and confusion on the side of unity seeing as how my laptop decided to update unity without warning and messed up my scenes. I spent most of this week reworking my scenes and messing with code to make it work again. Really what I did as unity decided to take a crap was work on stuff for other classes. This week could have been way more productive, but I really just couldn't bring myself to do much work besides what I wanted to do in unity. I really need to get working on my assets and actual game because I know I am behind. I will probably start working at home as well to get this game done in time.
Next week I will....
