Here it is! the very last post of my advanced Game Design class. Looking back on the year, especially what I have put on here, I find myself unsatisfied with the work I have put in here. Honestly I believe this could be MUCH better looking and more reflective of who I really am and the work that I do, however, for some reason it is not all I want it to be despite my monthly updates. The number one thing that I really should work harder on are my blog posts. They are highly irregular and generally feel tedious. Not to mention the quality of some of them are questionable. I did enjoy putting in little doodles I made with them but that trend didn't seem to last very long. However tedious and boring the posts may be, they are quite helpful when looking back on them. I can remember what i was doing when making the posts and sometimes I have even had important information that could be useful to a project resurface while reading old posts. Along with the informational side, the posts are also a little nostalgic. If I could change one thing about me handling this blog it would be me taking it more seriously and using it when potential employers may want to see what I am doing. A plan for next year concerning this portfolio includes an entire redesign and update of all my best work. Thanks for sticking it out.

Note: Last weekend i had a post that i was going to make explaining the excitement I had for the new game we were going to make, however, Last weekend was chaotic at best and so the post was never made.
For a little while now we have been chugging along with our individual unity projects and are now finally starting on an independent project! With the sheer excitement I have had from the time we first stared along the game design pathway, I find it a little odd that in all that time i never came up with one idea for a simple game. Most all of them have been more elaborate than what i can currently do with my skill level. The game i truly want to see myself creating fall in line with those that Bethesda would be creating. One thing Game Design has never really prepared me for is the reality that there are things I cannot do in a game and may never be able to do. I will need to over simplify my ideas in order to make them more realistic for a game i would want to make. So for now, all i can do is think of what to make. The Unreal Engine 4 personally appeals to me in many ways, specifically the coding procedure and graphics capabilities. By just observing how the engine works I have seen drastic differences in quality of physics and animation between itself and that of Unity. Also the Blueprint coding method intrigues me and reminds me somewhat of Game Maker but in a visual way. It is much more advanced and seems easier to use for someone that doesn't understand how to code. If given the option to switch to UE4 for next year I would strongly advise toward it because of the opportunities it can provide studnets without the technical know-how to really understand where things should go before they have to make it so themselves. Working with UE4 would also be more interesting to those who wish to see the artistic side of game making faster as it allows greater flexibility of game objects and functions than that of unity. If only the computers at school would let us run this program...
